When we found Arrow at the South LA Shelter, she was scheduled to be
killed that day. She had been dumped there by her "owners". She was
emaciated, filthy, covered in fleas and fly strikes and skin tumors -
but we could see beneath it all she was gentle and sweet and had a special old soul that needed
to be rescued.

She was nursed back to health - spayed, had her tumors removed, gained
20 lbs - and has blossomed into a gorgeous Shepherd/Wolf mix with a gorgeous coat and a . She is
gentle and intuitive - and found a wonderful home.

She was adopted by Libby, a dialysis patient who had recently lost her dog companion of 14 years. Arrow's special gift and spirit rescued Libby from her deep sadness - and Libby's love and attention awakened the playful and trusting part of Arrow after years of neglect. They quickly became best friends.

Sadly, we discovered mammary tumors on Arrow - and there's a 50%
chance it is malignant. She's scheduled for surgery which
we hope will be curative. We
are a very small independent rescue group and we will be sponsoring the
surgery for Libby who is on disability and unable to afford it due to
her medical condition. The financial burden of caring for Arrow and her
second surgery has been a major burden on our financial resources.
